At a birthday party at the Lafayette Rec Center for Theodore’s friend Max, who turned four. There were about 12-14 kids, and after the games and cake, we got to swim in the excellent pool.

They didn’t care much about the Pacific Ocean, I can honestly say, but they were smitten with its sand.

Theodore advised me on exactly how his Jack o’Lantern should be (triangle eyes, round nose, two teeth on the bottom), and then I put words in my pumpkin’s mouth. The bite marks on Theodore’s Jack come from this year’s enthusiastic squirrels.
